TuTu Cute

I have been making tutu's like crazy lately. Everyone has seen the tutu I made at Christmas time but I have yet to post the two most recent ones.
My best friend here (Louisiana) LOVES LOVES LOVES Wonder Woman. So as a way to celebrate we threw her a surprise birthday party! The theme you ask? WONDER WOMAN of course. Well I had this brilliant idea to make a little Wonder Woman costume for her 7 month old Anna Claire! She already had a Wonder Woman onsie so why not make the outfit complete with a blue tutu with silver stars on it?  That is exactly what I did!! It's hard to see in this picture but the tutu also has a yellow ribbon around it to complete the ensemble. However as a warning to anyone who might want to sew a ribbon at the top of the elastic tutu DON'T!! If you want to sew one make sure you sew it underneath the bottom part of the elastic and NOT into the elastic because it causes the elasticity to leave the elastic making the tutu not stay in the proper place. I unfortunately learned this the hard way but the outfit was still a success and my BFF still LOVED it!

Ok so two days after this party tutu I had another party tutu to make by the following weekend. My best friend in Texas youngest daughter Delaney would be celebrating her 1st birthday. Emma saw how adorable the other tutu's were and requested I make one for her little girl as well. So of course being the AMAZING Auntie that I am I said HECK YEAH!!!
We had a tough time deciding what color/s to make the tutu. Emma was throwing her an all pink party and had made her an adorable embroidered onsie that had the #1 and her name on it. So I suggested making a hot pink and black tutu which at first she was all down for. Then she got to thinking that maybe that was too bold her baby for now. So we (my little sister Melissah really) decided that a dark pink and light pink would work and great and she was correct. I managed to finish the tutu on the way to the airport to fly to Texas for the party. I arrived at Emma's early Friday morning after spending a great night at my little brother's house. I tried the tutu on Delaney only to find it IT WAS TOO BIG!! However, I had planned for this and was able to cut it and sew back to the proper side and she of course looked adorable! I really am so lucky to have the cutest little nieces!!!

Delaney unknowingly telling us she is 1 years old!
I just love this shot of her from behind
Of course the proud momma with the birthday girl!

Man this is a long post but I just have two more pictures to share and then you are finally done... I also made my little niece Kaylor a Wonder Woman onsie to wear and an additional one for Anna Claire that says Wonder Woman in Training. It's in Portuguese because Wendy speaks Portuguese.

WHEW!! Now off to school I go! ADIOS AMIGOS!!

Bows Bows and More Bows

So you see I have a ton of "southern" nieces in my life right now. For those of you aren't aware of the term "southern" auntie or "southern" niece allow me to give you a brief explination. In the South when your best friend (in my case cousins too) have a child boy or girl you automatically become a "southern" auntie. We are just a very close knit community and everybody is related to everybody somehow and if you aren't you grow up thinking you are because you have called him or her auntie or uncle your entire life.

I am the proud "southern" auntie of 4 nieces and one nephew and another niece on the way due in May! I considered myself very lucky to have two of those nieces living within driving distance from me and doubly lucky to have an actual amazing aunt who works for the airlines and allows me to use to her pass to fly to Dallas. Dallas is where my bestest friend from high school lives with her two adorable little girls as well as her younger sister whom I have adopted as a younger sister along with your little boy whom of course I consider my nephew :) I really do love all of these little ones as if they were my own and somehow one way or another I am going to get them all to move to one state so I can see all of them all the time whenever :) It's a work in progress....

Ok so back to my topic at hand! BOWS!! One of my adorable nieces Anna Claire (I have two nieces named Anna) wears bows literally every day of her life. She looks so stinking cute in them too. Well, her bows were stuck in her dresser drawer which was hard to rummage through when trying to find the perfect bow to match the outfit of the day, so her mom and I came up with a brilliant idea of making a bow holder for her. I of course was thrilled to make one as it is my new years resolution to become as crafty as I can.

This bow holder was easy and simple to make and fairly inexpensive. I (actually Anna's mommy) bought everything needed to make said bow holder from Hobby Lobby. Below you will find the before and after picture of the bow holder. Anna truly LOVES this thing. She really does look at it every time she is in her room and smiles up at it which of course makes my heart happy!

Stayed tuned from my next delayed blog entry about more tutus...
