Finally...

I have persuaded somebody to be my victim and run with me at 5:30 AM every Monday! It is my little sister! I have convinced her to get up every Monday morning (to run) starting tomorrow until she gets married and abandons me :(

I am excited that she is going to run with me though. It will be fun and good for both of us!!

Thanks little sister for being my victim!

Back on the horse?

So after the 10K I took a week off from running. This morning as scheduled I got up to go run on the treadmill. However, on the way to the gym I decided why not be crazy and run outside? After all, the races are outside. Here is what I learned this morning while running..

1. Hammond,LA smelled awful outside this morning and made it incredibly hard to continue to run while smelling that awful smell.
2. Man do I HATE running but LOVE running all at the same time.
3. I prefer to run inside on a treadmill.I think because I can see my progress and how fast I am running.
4. I desperately want to run another 10k.
5. I wonder if I can survive a half-marathon.
6. I will run longer when I am inside on a treadmill than I will outside on campus.

I realize that is a random list of things to realize all while running but it is what it is.

Since I want to run another 10k I took it upon myself to google some that might be in my area. I didn't find any 10k's but I did find a million and one 5K's as well as something called a dualthlon. This peeked my interest and I am now considering signing up for the Bridgeman104 Duathlon. It starts with a 2 mile run then you switch to do a 10 mile bike ride, and end with another 2 mile run. Am I crazy? Possibly but I really think I am going to sign up for it. I will as always keep you posted!

Until then remember

I DID IT!!!

WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD

HOORAY!! I completed the Crescent City Classic 10k!! I completed the 6.2 mile race in 1:13:32 secs! I was expecting it to take me an hour & 1/2 to finish so I was pleasantly surprised to see that I did it in less time. Training really does work :)

I loved every minute of the race from walking around downtown New Orleans the night before to standing at the finish line applauding others who came after me to the bus ride back to the starting line! The excitement that you feel as you run the race is just incredible! Everybody around is pumped and there are people along the entire route cheering you on. Complete strangers with their water hose out so that you can run under and cool off as well as people handing you mardi gras beads as you ran by! (It's a New Orleans thing). They had bands at some mile markers to get you even more pumped and of course because it is New Orleans people were there giving away free beer! And believe it or not people walked in the race dragging their ice chest full of beer with them!

I wasn't sure how I was going to react when race day actually arrived and the time to run arrived but I really did love it! I want to do a 1,00o more. I am actually already signed up to do the Color Run in November with team: Put a Bird On It!! However since that is so far away I am looking into more local runs that will be happening sooner!

The feeling of crossing that finishing line knowing you accomplished one of your goals is worth all the pain training before and oh the pain that you feel after the race is so worth it! (believe me I am feeling the pain today) I of course have a ton of pics to share so prepare yourself now!!

However before I share the pics I want to give a shout out to some people. My friend Ms.Beth is the one who inspired me and encouraged me to sign up and do it with her. She really was great at motivating me to make my goal of running in the 10K. She herself was amazing! She recently has had some bad knee problems and has since been in a brace. She has not let that slow her down one bit though. She is a beast and walked the whole 10k. She actually ran across the finish line. She got almost her entire family to do it as well. It was great to be a part of something so amazing! So thanks Ms.Beth for encouraging me to do the CCC! I LOVED IT!!

One more shout out to my cousin Brandie as well! She is a rockstar and she knows why!! Thanks for coming along on my journey cousin!! YOU ARE MY FAVORITE (shh don't tell Tim)

ok Ready Set PICTURE TIME::::

I made sure to time myself since I started so late!
BOOYAH!

Speaking of couples!! Check out my new man! LOL
Total strange but I loved his outfit choice..

I looked up my info on their website..

Below is my overall ranking

Not too shabby for somebody who hates to run
and who had never attempted anything like this before!

Anticipation

I am already beginning to feel the anticipation and the nervousness as I sit on my couch going over everything I will need for my stay in New Orleans this weekend to take on the Crescent City Classic 10K. I keep thinking I am going to forget something crucial I will most definitely need the day of the race. You see my friend Beth has so graciously offered to allow me and my cousin Brandie to stay in one of their hotel rooms the night before the race (tomorrow night). Thus I have been racking my brain trying to make sure I have everything I will need before, during and after the race.

I am so excited for the race to begin and equally as excited to put it behind me and be able to say I have actually completed a 10k! So please join me this weekend and cheer me on regardless of where you may be. Heck cheer on everyone this weekend who is even attempting the 10k! We will need it!!

Pictures will most definitely be posted once my poor legs have recovered and I am back to my senses!

So wish me luck b/c I am off like a dirty shirt!! ( thanks to Grandpa Warnick for that saying.)

FYI

Hello fellow bloggers! I have decided to create a second blog dedicated strictly to my photography. The newest blog has been cleverly (thanks familia) entitled: Picture This. Take a look at it because I am currently in the process of completing a photo challenge with my fellow photographers!!

Enjoy!

Team: IDK BLUE

Well, I have officially completed my very first 5K. I ran walked the 3+ miles with my fellow team members of IDK BLUE; Tim,Ginny,Kaylor, Brandie, and Ms.Beth. We all decided that if we signed up for it we would all walk the race together. Which for the most part we did...

Here are some pictures from the Blue Run Race::

My racing team; Beth,Brandie,Ginny,Tim and Kaylor

This race was just want I needed to get me energized for my very first 10K ( Crescent City Classic). This wonderful event will be taking place next Saturday down in New Orleans. I plan on running the entire thing. So far I have ran a little over 4 miles at a time in just under an hour. Now the 10K is a little over 6 miles but I am confident I will be able to succeed in my goal.

Until then I will...
